NAN HOOVER (hol)
Nan Hoover, (Estados Unidos, 1931 – Alemania, 2008), fue una artista conocida por ser una pionera en video arte, fotografía, el cine super 8 y la performance. También se dedicó al dibujo, la pintura y la creación de objetos y esculturas. Uno de los temas más tratados en su obra fueron la luz y el movimiento.
La obra de Hoover es muy amplia. Sus principales trabajos se caracterizan por poéticos y pausados videos en los que a través del pasaje de luces a sombras, demuestran variables, significados y problemas de la percepción y gestualidad.
Realizó su primera obra de video a color en 1978 llamada “Impressions”. Una performance donde aparece una mano interactuando en diferentes tiempos e interceptando un haz de luz. En algunos momentos de la obra, cuando el final del dedo índice de la mano toca el haz de luz, se provoca la impresión de que escribe con la luz.

Hoover’s work is very extensive. Her main works are characterized by poetic and leisurely videos in which, through the passage from light to shadow, she demonstrates variables, meanings and problems of perception and gestures.
She made the first color video work of hers in 1978 called “Impressions”. A performance where a hand appears interacting at different times and intercepting a beam of light. At certain moments in the work, when the end of the index finger of the hand touches the beam of light, the impression is made that he is writing with the light.
