Hay quien presenta el hogar como un espectáculo para ser presenciado por una audiencia de extraños. Yo quiero representarlo con la certeza del conocimiento de la rutina diaria y sus rituales. La iconografía responde a unas acciones y pulsiones humanas que son idénticas en un pequeño núcleo como es la familia o en un gran grupo social como es la nación. Este intercambio de símbolos e imágenes choca, pero funciona. Violencia, deseo, territorio o poder no son exclusivos de un país. Donde primero se manifiestan es en un entorno doméstico. Utilizamos del mismo modo la guerra, el despotismo, la sumisión. De hecho, el concepto de gobierno partió en un entorno de familia y hacienda. La base de lo social y lo doméstico es la misma: conquistar el espacio.
Para mí los actos heroicos son actos domésticos sinceros. Es ser coherente con uno mismo. En Nacionalismo doméstico difuminó las fronteras del territorio de lo privado e ironizó con las “grandes verdades” magnificando las “pequeñas batallas”. Nos encontramos defendiendo un terruño cada vez más pequeño en un acto absurdo de egoísmo sin finalidad. La guerra en casa, cada día, igual que fuera. Un microcosmos casero que refleja el macrocosmos.
