«Hel City” es una pieza ideada y editada con material anónimo de Super 8 de los años 70 producto de la recopilación y colección de películas de viajeros y turistas alrededor del mundo. El título se inspira en el nombre de la mujer del científico Rotman, creador del robot antropomorfo de la película Metrópolis y en la diosa del inframundo de la cultura nórdica. Ambas con un lado hermoso y otro cruel. A través de una mujer de nombre Hel se reflexiona sobre los cambios de paradigmas, debidos a la explosión demográfica, en ciudades y culturas del planeta. Pasado, presente y futuro son el eje, planteamiento y preguntas de esta pieza que mira por el retrovisor a las ciudades para mostrar el camino de delante, bajo la perspectiva y asumiendo las concepciones orientales sobre la noción del tiempo. “Hel City” es el retrato de una Babel universal.
“Hel City” is a piece created from the 70’s Super 8 anonymous materials, consisting of films made by travellers and tourists from all around the world. The title is inspired both by the name of the scientist Rotman’s wife (creator of the man-like robot in “Metropolis”) and the goddess of the underworld in Nordic culture. Both of them with a gorgeous and a cruel side. Through the narrative of a woman called Hel, the change of paradigms due to the demographic explosion in global cities and cultures is addressed. Past, present and future become the axis, the approach and the questions towards this piece in which cities are observed in order to show the way ahead, under the perspective and integrating the oriental conceptions about the sense of time. “Hel City” is the portrait of an universal Babel.
