STILL HUMAN, MORE HUMAN

Durante la visita y en el contexto del festival se conocerán en profundidad las obras de artistas: Mario Klingemann (ale), Egor Kraft (rus), Wong Ping (chi), Nikita Diakur (rus), Cassie MacQuarter (eeuu), FAES + FLAN (esp), Cool 3D World (eeuu), David Lewandowski (eeuu), Smack (eeuu) y Sholim (ser)
¿Qué es aquello que nos hace humanos? ¿Esa diferencia de un 1,2% que en nuestro ADN nos distingue de los chimpancés? Quizá sean nuestros cerebros complejos e hiperconectados, con su asombrosa eficiencia energética. Tal vez sea la tendencia a preocuparnos por el futuro, la conciencia de la muerte o el sentido del humor.
Otros citarán una respuesta más sencilla: la creatividad. Nos hace diferentes la imaginación, las ideas y la voluntad de convertirlas en algo tangible. En pocas palabras, sin creación no somos humanos. Como explica el antropólogo Agustín Fuentes, «la capacidad de movernos entre ‘lo que es’ y ‘lo que podría ser’ nos ha permitido ir más allá de ser una especie con éxito para convertirnos en una especie excepcional».
STILL HUMAN pone en diálogo obras de la Colección SOLO y de artistas invitados para reflexionar sobre cómo nos relacionamos con aquello que es nuevo. Desde la pintura, la escultura, el arte sonoro, el new media o la inteligencia artificial, el recorrido explora cómo la creación contemporánea da respuesta a un horizonte de futuro incierto marcado por la conectividad y las constantes transformaciones tecnológicas. STILL HUMAN se centra en nuestra capacidad para crear, expresarnos, percibir emociones, observar y adaptarnos a lo que nos rodea armados de imaginación. Aventuramos, así, que no solo somos humanos, sino que somos más humanos que nunca.

What is it that makes us human? That 1.2% difference in our DNA that distinguishes us from chimpanzees? Maybe it’s our complex and hyper-connected brains, with their amazing energy efficiency. Maybe it’s the tendency to worry about the future, the awareness of death, or the sense of humor.
Others will cite a simpler answer: creativity. Our imagination, ideas and the will to turn them into something tangible make us different. In short, without creation we are not human. As the anthropologist Agustín Fuentes explains, «the ability to move between‘ what is ’and‘ what could be ’has allowed us to go beyond being a successful species to become an exceptional species.»
STILL HUMAN puts works from the SOLO Collection and invites artists into dialogue to reflect on how we relate to what is new. From painting, sculpture, sound art, new media or artificial intelligence, the tour explores how contemporary creation responds to an uncertain future horizon marked by connectivity and constant technological transformations. STILL HUMAN focuses on our ability to create, express ourselves, perceive emotions, observe and adapt to our surroundings armed with imagination. Thus, we venture that we are not only human, but we are more human than ever.
