Cuerpos Habitados expone la ritualidad en la manipulación de la naturaleza, el cuerpo, y la información e ideas que tenemos de nosotros mismos a través de los espacios inmediatos como los culturales; lo privado y lo público. Tomando del libro antropológico “Body, The Ultimate Symbol: Meanings of the Human Body Through Time and Place” de Olivia Vlahos, escrito en 1979, en Cuerpos Habitados la artista recita extractos de éste que describe las prácticas de grupos y comunidades primitivas mientras elimina los contextos para hablar sobre el ser humano desde un punto más abstracto. La pieza contrapone la narrativa de este texto con videos que exponen la transformación y manipulación de “los cuerpos que habitamos” en la contemporaneidad. Con dos videos, la obra muestra materiales y objetos del hogar de la artista para exponer lo inmediato y privado; con videos encontrados, interpreta el texto desde un nivel socio-cultural.
Inhabited Bodies exposes the rituality in the manipulation of nature, the body, and the information and ideas that we have about ourselves through immediate spaces such as cultural ones; The private and the public. Taking from the anthropological book «Body, The Ultimate Symbol: Meanings of the Human Body Through Time and Place» by Olivia Vlahos, written in 1979, in Inhabited Bodies the artist recites excerpts from it that describes the practices of primitive groups and communities while eliminating the contexts to talk about the human being from a more abstract point of view. The piece contrasts the narrative of this text with videos that expose the transformation and manipulation of «the bodies we inhabit» in contemporary times. With two videos, the work shows materials and objects from the artist’s home to expose the immediate and private; With found videos, she interprets the text from a socio-cultural level.
