Su obra artística cuestiona la realidad cultural y social desde una perspectiva tardorromántica con un punto de vista crítico. Explorando continuamente el imaginario social, Sala identifica los puntos dolorosos, demostrando el poder del arte como espacio de experimentación y de creación de nuevos mundos. Sala es un referente español del arte como vehículo de resistencia política, en su producción hay una especie de poética que reflexiona sobre los poderes del Estado y el control que ejercen. Su reconocible discurso estético es tan necesario como poderoso, abarcando temas sensibles y relevantes como la migración, la dislocación contemporánea, la crisis medioambiental y las paradojas del capitalismo.
Sala trabaja en el contexto global del arte contemporáneo, exponiendo y participando en bienales en Caracas, Tel Aviv, Estambul, entre otras. Su producción se ha mostrado a nivel nacional e internacional en espacios como Abrons Arts Center, Nueva York; Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias; MAAC, Guayaquil; Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo, NCCA, Moscú; Matadero, Madrid; entre otros. Ha recibido varias becas como Cajastur, Hangar, Bilbao Arte y el Premio Generaciones de CajaMadrid. En 2007 fue galardonado por la UNESCO y la New York Foundation for the Arts con el Artport International Video Award en Basilea (Suiza) y en 2010 con el Premio VAD, Festival de Videoarte de Girona. También fue becado por la Real Academia de España en Roma y por el Centro de Arte Le Lait de Albi (Francia) en 2012.

His artistic work questions cultural and social reality from a late romantic perspective with a critical point of view. By continuously exploring social imagery, Sala identifies the painful points, demonstrating the power of art as a space for experimentation and for the creation of new worlds. Sala is a Spanish referent of art as a vehicle for political resistance, in his production there is a kind of poetics that reflect on State powers and the control they exercise. His recognizable aesthetic discourse is as necessary as it is powerful, encompassing sensitive and relevant themes such as migration, contemporary dislocation, the environmental crisis and the paradoxes of capitalism.
Sala works in the global context of contemporary art, exhibiting and participating in biennials in Caracas, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, among others. His production has been shown nationally and internationally in spaces such as Abrons Arts Center, New York; Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias; MAAC, Guayaquil; Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo, NCCA, Moscow; Matadero, Madrid; among others. He has received several grants including Cajastur, Hangar, Bilbao Arte and the Premio Generaciones de CajaMadrid. In 2007 he was awarded by UNESCO and the New York Foundation for the Arts with the Artport International Video Award in Basel (Switzerland) and in 2010 with the VAD Prize, Girona Video Art Festival. He also received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome and from the Le Lait Art Center in Albi, France, in 2012.
