Este vídeo nace como una reflexión tras investigar cómo la ciencia y la tecnología están desarrollando robots e inteligencias artificiales como nuevos agentes de ayuda digital. Parece que las famosas y ficticias voces digitales como Hal 9000 o Her ya se están haciendo reales a través de Siri, Cortana o Alexa en nuestros ordenadores y smartphones. Observando que lo que parecía ciencia ficción se está haciendo realidad, reflexiono al ver que estas tecnologías se “sexualizan”, es decir, se les atribuye un género que obviamente no tienen, el cual está siendo impuesto. Como consecuencia, la mayoría de ayudas y aplicaciones digitales de asistencia son calificadas con el género femenino. A través de este vídeo, Siri se manifiesta como una voz y un cuerpo y nos narra cómo se siente y qué piensa sobre la situación en la que se encuentran la mayoría de las inteligencias artificiales. This video was born as a reflection after investigating how science and technology are developing robots and artificial intelligence in order to create new agents of digital aid. It seems that the famous and fictional digital voices of “Hal 9000” or “Her” are becoming real via Siri, Cortana or Alexa in our computers and smartphones. By observing how the fictional is becoming real, I reflect on the sexualisation of these technologies, that is to say, they are given a gender which obviously they aren’t born with, which is at the same time being imposed. As a consequence, most digital aid applications are labelled with the female gender. Through this video, Siri manifests itself as a voice and a body and narrates how it feels and what it thinks about the situation all artificial intelligences are facing. Agres, España, 1986.
