I don\u2019t know if life itself one\u2019s is own. I don\u2019t know beyond cultural, anthropological, social and\/or psychological theorizing what it is to live. And I don\u2019t know if the lives of others \u2013 those of others \u2013 are not really my own. Each discipline shows us possible ways of understanding this world -whether close or a thousand kilometers from the ground we walk on-. And, perhaps, video art, specifically this exhibition, is the possible exercise of reflecting on whether what is alien can question us and add to the narrative of our daily life other forms of understanding, of analysis, of agreeing in our experience other depths, other alien, bastard, distant multisemantic and polyphonic looks.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the literary project from Argentina to Vir Cano, when in 2021 he published his Draft for an alphabet of contempt, which accommodates a multitude of words that will give them space in their writing to define them from what the naughty at the time with an important axis that In any case, life occupied us all: the state of alarm, the presence of COVID and all of us confined to the four walls of our houses -whoever had a house, not everyone has a house or a home-. She, Vir Cano, will say of the term living that it is: \u201cSometimes hell, sometimes a haven, sometimes an abyss, other times in lethargy; no matter what the mess we are immersed in, the challenge we cannot give up. Living as a problem, as Haraway warns, as the conflict in which we must remain, as a common concern, in the best of cases, a collective pre\/occupation\u201d (Cano, Madreselva, 2021, p. 73).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Living and the lives of others are a problem that this group of artistic films confronts us with. Living from and with the alien that can question us, reach and, if you allow me, transfigure the possible otherness, in the alterity distant from us and that is there because it is possible, is a phenomenon that we caress when we penetrate<\/em>
in this sample.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan Sahin<\/a> in Smoke Break (Zigipouse)<\/a> offers us seven possibilities to get to know other worlds and other people in a technical stop of human activity, in less than five minutes he stops and smokes; between puffs and inhalations the lives that we do not know overlap and that in turn question us.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we continue, we will see <\/em>Francisco Pradilla<\/a>\u2018s proposal in his Breaking News<\/a>.. Lu Chih Kai<\/a> in his Rolex in the Sky<\/a>talks between the vertical photography format, online communication, and the variable of temporality. In this communicative interaction between authorship and a watchmaker, the power of how memories are created and how they persist in our retina and memory is shaken.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miguel Rozas Balboa<\/a> makes us witnesses of a family story and of a farewell; he titles it Humano<\/a><\/em>. Its protagonists live in the south of Chile in a precarious house. The video installation not only tells us about Antonio\u2019s disease and how Elsa and her granddaughter accept this situation in their own lives, but also offers us to look beyond and reflect on the suffering of the indigenous population in the territories where they are treated as guests and not as parts of. It is the possibility of concrete history and the historical background that led to situations suffering from political debts and mistreatment from generation to generation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And finally, in Enviado para Falsear,<\/a><\/em> Maia Navas<\/a> dialogues between the past and the present of the reality that they live in the year 2020 when a police drone is shot down in the Gran Toba neighborhood in Argentina and how in the twentieth century this community of the town of Qom, They were the object -and subjects- of a massacre. Perhaps both situations speak of similar mechanisms of power with different accents and technological evolutions: the power that disciplines the bodies that supposedly do not matter.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
