Reem Shadid is an independent curator and researcher who works on the emancipatory possibilities within artistic practice, exploring the ways it intersects with socio-economic forms. Previously, she was the Deputy Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, where she served in various capacities between 2006 \u2013 2020. She was instrumental in developing and managing the foundations\u2019 team, operations and public and curatorial programmes which includes Sharjah Biennial, March Meeting, exhibitions, publications, film, music, education and community outreach programmes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among her recent curatorial projects are\u00a0New Affinities, B7L9-art station, Tunis (2019),\u00a0Debt, Khalil Sakakini Cultural Centre, Ramallah\u00a0(2018),\u00a0Active Forms, Sharjah Art Foundation, Sharjah (2018) and March Project, Sharjah Art Foundation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).\u00a0\u00a0She has also served on various advisory and selection committees of commissions and participated in several symposiums such as\u00a0In 20\/20, the Architecture Association, London;\u00a0Understanding Asia: Understanding Art and Culture, Asia Pacific Triennial,\u00a0Brisbane;\u00a0Africa Art Book Fair, La Colonie, Paris; and\u00a0Collecting Territories, Studio-X Amman \u2013 Columbia GSAAP, Amman among others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reem holds an MA in History of Art from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where her research explored the role of art and literature in forging emancipatory historical and contemporary narratives in post liberation Algeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
