Between 1990 and 2001, he was the founder of Entertainment Co. with Jo\u00e3o Louro. He has worked simultaneously in documentary and reportage photography for various national and international publications. In 1998, he gave up his journalistic activity to focus entirely on artistic activity.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Photography and video are the predominant areas of his work, in which the artist uses poetic language between the imaginary and the real.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>He has been exhibiting regularly since the early 1990s. His group exhibitions include: Made in Portugal, at the Gra\u00e7a Fonseca Gallery in Lisbon (1993); Images for the 1990s, at the Serralves, Porto and Culturgest Foundation in Lisbon (1993); Entertainment &amp; Co \u2013 Jo\u00e3o Tabarra and Jo\u00e3o Louro, at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto (2000); Other alternatives New visual experiences in Portugal, at MARCO in Vigo (2003); How Human: Life in the Post-Genome Era at the International Center of Photography in New York (2003); 11 Simulacros, at the Soares dos Reis National Museum, Porto (2010); Gravity and misfortune Ep. 2, at the CGAC of Santiago de Compostela (2013). His solo exhibitions include: No Pain, No Gain, National Museum of Contemporary Art, Lisbon (2000); Po\u00e7o dos Murm\u00farios \u2013 Official Portuguese Representation at the XXV S\u00e3o Paulo Biennial (2002); Jo\u00e3o Tabarra, at the Un\u00edon Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art (2007); Les Limites du D\u00e9sert (2010), a traveling exhibition at the Gra\u00e7a Brand\u00e3o Gallery (Lisbon), the Art &amp; River Bank Gallery (Tokyo) and the IPT Art and Image Center Gallery (Tomar); Interior Landscape \/ Inner Landscape at the FCG Center for Modern Art (2014).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>His work is displayed in several national and international, private and public collections such as: Ant\u00f3nio Cachola Collection (Portugal), Portuguese Business Bank (Portugal), C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes de Coimbra (Portugal), Centro Gallego de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo Santiago de Compostela (Spain) ), Institut d\u2019Art Contemporain Villeurbanne (France), Centro de Arte Moderno, FCG (Portugal), Il\u00eddio Pinho Foundation (Portugal), PLMJ (Portugal), Serralves Foundation (Portugal), Institute of Contemporary Art (Portugal), Art Museum Contemporary Extreme\u00f1o and Iberoamerican Badajoz (Spain), Berardo Collection (Portugal), National Museum of Contemporary Art (Portugal), ABN AMRO (France), Portugal Telecom (Portugal).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>He is represented by the Filomena Soares Gallery.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He attended the photography course at Ar.Co (Lisbon) between 1986 and 1989.
