Her work focuses on advocating images of underrepresented bodies or what she refers to as nonhuman bodies. She uses technological tools and body-based interfaces to push the boundaries of what can be considered as a body. She then studies the loop between these nonhuman body-minds and the worlds which they might inhabit. She is interested in her designs having real-life applications, therefore her wearable technologies also act as tools of enhancement for reconstructing lost channels of sensation or turning intangible information to more sensible ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ava uses performing arts as a method of highlighting how her machines manipulate the wearer\u2019s internal somatic experience as well as their external behaviors. Her project titled Sarotis was highlighted by Domus as one of the top design projects of 2016 and awarded the Silver medal during the New York Design Awards 2018. Ava\u2019s work has appeared in ARS Electronica (Linz), Doclisboa International Film Festival (Lisbon), Museum of Contemporary Arts (Shanghai), Resonate Media Arts Festival (Belgrade), BodyHack Con (Texas), Onassis Cultural Center (Athens), among others. Ava is currently a PhD candidate at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, where her research on methods of enhancing human perception promotes more immersive, adaptive and responsive design for the man of the future<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ava Aghakouchak is an Iranian designer\/creative technologist currently based in London.
