SomosNosotros is a collaborative duo formed by Begonya Garcia (Barcelona, 1983) and Alfonso Fern\u00e1ndez (Seville, 1983). Both hold degrees in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona (2012), a Postgraduate Degree in Education and Culture from the University of Girona (2013), and a Master\u2019s Degree in Research and Artistic Creation from the Complutense University of Madrid (2015).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their work has been shown at the Spanish Cultural Center in Panama, Arte Lateral, Galer\u00eda Marta Cervera, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof\u00eda (performance), Estampa Art Fair, Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, La T\u00e9rmica, Galer\u00eda Fran Reus, LABoral, DA2, the Antoni T\u00e0pies Foundation, and Trama Centro (Mexico), among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have received numerous awards and grants, including the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum\u2019s Art Education Residency, Contemporary Creation Grants from the Madrid City Council and the Region of Madrid, the ArteLateral-OpenStudio Prize, the Las Cl\u00ednicas d\u2019Es Baluard Fellowship, Can Felipa Grant, the XXVI Circuitos Art Prize, the Injuve Creation Prize, Sala d\u2019Art Jove, the Vad-Metr\u00f3polis RTVE Prize, and the Hamaca\u2013Museo Reina Sof\u00eda Award, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their work has been selected for various competitions such as Obra Abierta, EAC 2018, Open Studio, La Situaci\u00f3n, and the UCM Young Art Award, among others. They have led workshops at MNCARS (Museo Reina Sof\u00eda), the Carmen Thyssen Museum, the CCE in Panama, Art Madrid, and Injuve, among others. They have also been selected as artists-in-residence at La T\u00e9rmica, the Thyssen Museum, Espacio Oculto, Arte y Desarrollo, Fabra i Coats, and NauEstruch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our work begins with the processes of subjectivity, exploring how class condition affects the precarious, exhausted body\u2014both cognitively and physically. We are interested in the bureaucratization of stress in relation to the paradoxes and contradictions of contemporary society. Our research touches on ideas such as false positivity, escapism, productivity, and resilience as applied to the world of work.
