{"id":9171,"date":"2025-07-01T10:59:48","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T08:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/proyector.info\/work\/la-imagen-se-corrige-a-si-misma\/"},"modified":"2025-07-04T14:20:46","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T12:20:46","slug":"la-imagen-se-corrige-a-si-misma","status":"publish","type":"movie","link":"https:\/\/proyector.info\/en\/work\/la-imagen-se-corrige-a-si-misma\/","title":{"rendered":"The Image Corrects Itself"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Image Corrects Itself <\/em>is an ongoing 16mm film investigation into the ephemeral transitions of natural light \u2014 those brief, unstable interstices between day and night, what the French call <em>entre chien et loup<\/em> (between dog and wolf) \u2014 when distinctions blur, and everything escapes precise definition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project began with a 16mm timelapse filmed in Madrid on February 15th, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. Using a Bolex camera with a 10mm lens, an f\/5.6 aperture, and a timelapse motor triggering six-second exposures every eight seconds, the film proposes a quiet collaboration between filmmaker and atmosphere. Rather than adjusting exposure to maintain a constant image, the aperture remains still from twilight through to morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A second chapter of the project has already been filmed, making <em>The Image Corrects Itself<\/em> now presentable as a linear film composed of two parts. This second part was filmed in Madrid on May 23rd, 2025, between 8:32 p.m. and 11:52 p.m., with a more focused attention on the moment of changing light during sunset. The camera is positioned pointing directly upward, framing the sky through a rectangular opening in the interior patio of a typical Madrid residential building. As daylight recedes, the film registers the subtle shifts of blue in the sky, creating a chromatic study of fading light. By night, a choreography of domestic life unfolds with a greater sense of spatial depth than in the first chapter, revealing flickers of human presence in and around the patio\u2014lights turning on and off, shadows moving behind windows\u2014echoing the slow rhythms of cohabitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each new iteration of the project will explore the particular behaviors of light across different times and locations, opening the possibility of expanding it into a series of related works. <em>The Image Corrects Itself<\/em> invites viewers into a shared experience of waiting, listening to the world sleep, and anticipating imperceptible changes. It is not a suspense of narrative, but a suspense of light\u2014waiting for a window to glow, a sleeper to stir, or a neighbor waking for the bathroom.The work emphasizes not the space captured by the frame, but the air between, the biospheric qualities of light. It privileges atmosphere over landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, the film enters into conversation with a lineage of artists concerned with the phenomenology of time, light, and technology. It echoes the structural materialism of David Rimmer, where image and medium dissolve into one another through the long weathering of time; and the temporal inquiries of David Lamelas, such as in <em>Time as Activity<\/em>, where filming and projection merge into a single lived present.Ultimately, <em>The Image Corrects Itself<\/em> is a meditation on waiting, watching, and noticing.
